Biography

Overview  

The Frenchman has been a consistent performer on the ATP World Tour for the past decade, achieving a career-high ranking of No.25 in 2013. He has recorded 11 career top-10 wins, most recently upsetting Team Europe teammate Grigor Dimitrov in Miami earlier this season. A member of France’s winning Davis Cup campaign in 2017, the 31-year-old boasts a 5-1 winning record in the team competition.

Off court

Chardy, whose father Guy is a banker and mother Maryse is a housewife, began playing tennis when he was six and grew up idolizing American champion Pete Sampras. The avid football fan, who supports Paris Saint-Germain, married Zambian model Susan Gossage in September 2017.

 

Career   

Potential was evident early in Chardy’s career, achieving a career-high junior ranking of No.3 after winning the Wimbledon boys’ singles title in 2005. He was also runner-up in the US Open boys’ singles in 2005. The 31-year-old has reached the fourth round at all Grand Slam tournaments, with his best result at quarterfinal run at Australian Open
