Peter Deutsch
Peter Deutsch is a Jewish American politician and former member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Deutsch (born April 1, 1957) was born in the Bronx, New York. He first expressed interest in public service as a college intern for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. Deutsch graduated from Swarthmore College in 1979 and went on to graduate from Yale University Law School in 1982. After graduating from law school, Deutsch moved to Florida and established a nonprofit health care advocacy organization.
Deutsch was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1982, at the age of 25, and won reelection four times, serving for a total of ten years. He served on the Veterans Affairs Committee, the Health Care Committee, the Criminal Justice Committee, and later, went on to serve as the Chairman of the Insurance Committee.
In 1992, Deutsch ran for and won a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. He was subsequently re-elected five times, serving a total of twelve years in office. In 2000 and 2002, he actually ran unopposed for reelection. Deutsch serv

L Peter Deutsch (born Laurence Peter Deutsch on August 7, 1946, in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American computer scientist and composer. He is the founder of Aladdin Enterprises and creator of Ghostscript, a free software PostScript and PDF interpreter.
Deutsch's other work includes the Smalltalk implementation that inspired Javajust-in-time compilation technology about 15 years later.[1]
Name
Deutsch changed his legal first name from "Laurence" to "L" on September 12, 2007.[2] His published work and other public references before that time generally use the name L. Peter Deutsch (with a dot after the L).

BIOGRAPHY
L PETER DEUTSCH is a native of Massachusetts, U.S.A., now living in Sonoma County, California, and British Columbia, Canada. After a long detour through a distinguished career in Computer Science, he returned to composition part-time in 1986 and full-time in 2003, with over a dozen releases of his works on CD and streaming since then.
Deutsch's strengths as a composer include sparkling counterpoint and polyphony, lyrical melodies, fluent text setting, lush homophony, and the use of a large harmonic palette centered around modal scales. He writes primarily for small instrumental or a capella vocal ensemble, spanning styles from spiritual to romantic to jazzy. His work to date includes four choral commissions, a string quartet, suites for brass quintet, piano trio, and piano/cello duo, and a short concerto for cello recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra.
