Janet Helen (Huber) Robinson
Janet Helen (Huber) Robinson, 81, New Haven, CT passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Yale New Haven Hospital, after a series of health complications.
Janet was born on January 19, 1941 to Mary (Moore) Huber and Carl Huber in New Haven, CT. After graduating from Hillhouse High School in 1958, she went on to earn a Bachelors of Arts from Southern Connecticut State College.
After graduation, she taught 4th Grade at Mt. Carmel School in Hamden, CT and was a substitute teacher in public and private schools in southern New Hampshire and New Haven, CT. She earned her license to practice real estate in 1984 and she enjoyed that work for nearly 30 years with William Raveis Real Estate, Cuozzo Associates/Press-Cuozzo, Roe Curtis and Norman Properties.
Janet was married to David F. Robinson (b. 1936- d. 2005) from 1966 to 1985, who worked for Roadway Express for 32 Years. When Roadway Express honored David with a Salesforce award, they made an award for Janet, that said “You did good, too!”

About Ms. Robinson
Janet Robinson is thrilled to be teaching art in the Orinda Union School District, and to be back in the Bay Area where she grew up.
Janet has an AA degree in art, a BA from UC Berkeley, a Master’s Degree in City Planning from Cornell University, and a teaching credential from Cal State San Marcos.
Her deep interest in art history inspired Janet to become a docent at the San Diego Museum of Art for two years where she led tours and taught children’s classes, and visited schools in the student outreach program. Janet also taught art and ran the volunteer art program for 10 years at her daughters’ school in North County San Diego. When she and her husband moved to Truckee two years ago, Janet brought art to the public elementary schools in the Tahoe Truckee Union School District through a non-profit organization (Arts For The Schools). In that job, she carried all her art materials in the back of her car and drove from her home in Truckee to Lake Tahoe and over Donner Pass to get to work! She finds her current commute much easier.

Janet L. Robinson was the president and chief executive officer of The New York Times Company from December of 2004 to January 2012. She was also a member of the board of directors.
As chief executive officer, Robinson had the responsibility for overseeing all of the company’s print, digital, broadcast, and newsprint manufacturing business units and for charting the future direction of the company. In this role, she implemented an accelerated strategic plan that focused on leveraging the company’s core asset, quality journalism, across new and emerging forms of media. This included developing new products in print and online, implementing operational efficiency, and rebalancing the company’s portfolio of businesses.
Robinson served as chief operating officer and executive vice president of The New York Times Company beginning in February of 2004. Previously, she served as senior vice president of newspaper operations.
