Barbara Daly (born November 13,1939) is an American author of romance novels. She won the Romance Writers of America's RITA Award in 2002 for Best Short Contemporary Romance for her novel A Long Hot Christmas.^[1] She has also been twice nominated by Romantic Times for Reviewers' Choice Awards, for A Long Hot Christmas and Too Hot to Handle.^[2]Romantic Times described her Harlequin Duets novel Are You For Real as "fast-paced, fresh and funny".^[3]

  Barbara Daly Baekeland is a story of beauty and tragedy. She was a socialite and model who was touted for her great beauty and grace, appearing on the covers of some major magazines including Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue. She also described herself as a painter.

When I was in London in May 2019 I sat down with Barbara Daly, a legendary makeup artist whose work I have long admired. 

  Barbara was born in Leeds in 1949. The daughter of a secondhand clothing dealer, she had a dressing-up box filled with vintage magic and a passion for old Hollywood movies. Unlike so many of my interviewees, Barbara’s career goals were set from childhood – by 13 she was sending letters off to Hollywood makeup artists and applying for jobs at the BBC. She was finally accepted to the BBC makeup and hair training cour
