Hinkley later had supporting roles in Men at Work (1990), the horror film Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation (also 1990), and the comedy The Little Vampire (2000).

Hinkley's early roles were in comedies like "Back to the Beach" (1987) with Tommy Hinkley and Lori Loughlin, the Mel Gibson blockbuster "Lethal Weapon 2" (1989) and "Men At Work" (1990) with Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez. He continued to work steadily in film throughout the nineties, appearing in "The Human Shield" (1992), the sci-fi sequel "Star Trek: Generations" (1994) with Patrick Stewart and the Jim Carrey comedic drama "The Cable Guy" (1996).
